The Insurance Services Office (ISO) provides that’s information through the Public Protection Classification (PPC) program. ISO collects information on a community’s public fire protection and analyzes data using a Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS). ISO then assigns a PPC from 1 to 10. Class 1 represents the best public protection and Class 10 indicates less than the minimum recognized protection.

The City of Olmos Park underwent a review by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) in September 2022. ISO submitted a recommendation that the Public Protection Classification (PPC) be improved to Class One (1). The Texas Department of Insurance, State Fire Marshal’s Office reviewed the recommendation and awarded the City of Olmos Park the Class 1 PPC designation effective June 1, 2023.

ISO's Public Protection Classification Program (PPC) plays an essential role in the underwriting process at insurance companies. Most U.S. insurers – including the largest ones – use PPC information as part of their decision-making when deciding what business to write, coverages to offer, or prices to charge for personal or commercial property insurance.
